Welcome to Mr. Sperry's class! This is my eighth year teaching in the district and prior to that I taught first grade in Columbus. I have an undergraduate degree from Ohio University, a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Ashland University, and am in the process of earning an additional master's degree in educational technology from Miami University. I live in Hudson, so you will probably see me out and about with my wife Melissa and my four-year-old son Landon; make sure to say hi! 

My classroom management plan is student-centered. First and foremost, the emphasis is placed on every child feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally safe to learn. Positive behavior will be recorded through a behavior app called "Class Dojo” and is available in real-time for parents to access as students strive toward earning their weekly prize. Each child will receive challenging work to accelerate their growth and it will be taught in an engaging manner that incorporates hands-on learning. To better assist various types of learners, differentiated small group instruction will be provided in the various primary subject areas.

Parent communication and involvement are highly encouraged. A weekly newsletter will be sent home and volunteers are always welcome. I look forward to partnering with both you and your child as we kick off another fun-filled year!
