Why a Master Facility Plan
Posted by:Think of our school facilities in thirds: high school, middle school, and early elementary buildings. Previous school and community leadership addressed the replacement of these facilities in approximately 30 year cycles. It is important that we continue to move ahead so that the high school, middle school, and elementary facilities do not need to be replaced at the same time.
-
Why Now
Posted by:Interest rates are relatively low, which will impact the overall cost. The facility plan will take 4-5 years to implement. Low interest rates will save taxpayers millions of dollars over the life of a 30-year Bond.
-
How long do you estimate this plan will take to complete
Posted by:After successful passage of the Bond, the Master Facility Plan will take 4-5 years to complete. The approximate construction time line is as follows:
Middle School Construction - 2018-2020
Natatorium and High School Media Center - 2018-2019
East Woods and McDowell Renovations - 2020-2021
Ellsworth Hill Addition Construction - 2020-2021
Evamere Administrative and HCER Offices - 2021-2022
-
What is the plan for students while the construction and major renovations are taking place
Posted by:The District has a transition plan in place to ensure the continuity of a quality education for all our students. The new Middle School will be the first facility completed in the Master Facility Plan. The current Middle School will be used for third, fourth and fifth grades during the 2020-2021 school year while East Woods and McDowell are being renovated.

Understanding Issue 30 and appraisals
Posted by:The Summit County Auditor's Office issued new reappraisals in Summit County in August 2017. Reappraisals occur every three years. However, Issue 30 is best estimated using the current appraisal of your home, NOT the new reappraisal. The Summit County Fiscal Office has confirmed that they will be using the current valuation and millage provided to the Hudson City School District in June 2017.
For your convenience, a Tax Calculator is available on this site.
-
Will the property tax reappraisals impact the Bond millage
Posted by:No. The millage for this bond will not rise with an increase in property valuation due to a State Law called HB920.

When did the District last ask for an Operating Levy
Posted by:A Bond levy cannot be used for operating expenses. The last Operating Levy was passed in 2011. Through conservative fiscal management, the District's Five-year Forecast show another five years before additional operating funds may be needed.
