Michael Payne

Elementary Physical Education Teacher

Hello! I'm Michael Payne, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the Ellsworth Hill team as an Elementary Physical Education Teacher. With a passion for promoting active lifestyles and fostering a love for movement in young learners, I'm dedicated to creating a positive and engaging environment where students can thrive physically, mentally and socially.

About Me:

I was born and raised in northeast Ohio.  I am married to my wonderful wife Laura who is a teacher in the Stow-Munroe Falls school district.  I am also the proud father of three amazing children (Moriah, Michael and Lydia).  I graduated from the The University of Akron (Bachelor's of Science Degree in Physical Education) as well as Kent State University (Master's Degree in Public Health).  In 2021, I was able to earn to my National Board Teacher Certification.  My journey in education began 26 years ago, and I've had the pleasure of working with students from diverse ages, backgrounds and abilities. My approach to teaching centers on making physical activity enjoyable, building teamwork skills, and instilling the importance of lifelong wellness.

Teaching Philosophy:

I believe that every child has unique strengths and potential, and it's my goal to help them discover and develop these attributes through movement. In my classes, I blend structured lessons with creative games and activities to ensure a well-rounded and inclusive physical education experience. I'm a firm believer in nurturing not only physical skills but also confidence, sportsmanship, and a strong sense of self-esteem.

Classroom Atmosphere:

My classroom is a place of excitement, encouragement, and exploration. I strive to create a safe space where students feel comfortable taking risks and challenging themselves. By integrating technology, interactive lessons, and innovative teaching methods, I aim to keep students engaged while enhancing their motor skills, coordination, and overall fitness.

Beyond the Classroom:

Outside of school hours, you'll often find me coaching premier soccer for the Internationals Soccer Club, participating in community sports events as well as engaging in professional development opportunities to stay updated with the latest teaching strategies. I firmly believe that a collaborative partnership between educators, parents, and the community is essential in nurturing well-rounded and healthy individuals.

Join Me in the Journey:

I'm excited to embark on this journey of physical education with your children. Together, we'll create memories of teamwork, achievement, and the joy of movement. Please feel free to reach out to me at paynem@hudson.k12.oh.us if you have any questions, ideas, or if you simply want to discuss the positive impact of physical activity on young minds.

Let's stay active and inspired!

Sincerely,

Michael Payne
