7th Grade Study Strategies
Study Strategies is a class that provides students with an opportunity to complete homework, prepare for tests/quizzes, review daily assignments, and practice individualized skills in a small group setting. Students also use this time to discuss strategies for navigating through the unique social environment of the middle school setting. The individualized support that students receive in this setting can make a world of difference to their success.
Study Strategies is offered during 2nd period, 6th period, and 9th period (Tuesday through Friday). This will take place in Room B235A and in the Study Room.
As students navigate through middle school they will begin to develop work and study habits. Our hope is to guide them through this process and assist them in developing positive habits that will benefit them both in and out of school. Study Strategies offers a great opportunity for students to complete their work in a small group, less disruptive setting. If students use their time wisely they will be able to complete the majority of their homework each week during this time. Some students, however, will need to finish things outside of school.
The Encore classes for 7th grade take place during 2nd and 6th periods. Encore classes include Band, Orchestra, Choir, Art, Music, Physical Education, and Study Hall. Every student is required to take Physical Education for 2.5 days per week. If students are enrolled in Band, Orchestra, Choir, Art, or Music this will limit the amount of time they will be able to participate in Study Strategies. The 9th period class is used for Focus (silent sustained reading) or RtI (Response to Intervention). Some stuednts will be scheduled for Study Strategies depending on the individual needs and accessibility during 2nd and 6th periods.
