Hello! I am so excited to be starting my seventh year teaching at Hudson High School and eleventh overall! I came to Hudson in 2016 after teaching for four years at Cleveland Heights High School. I look forward to sharing with your student my passion for teaching and learning, my enthusiasm about all things literature, as well as much experience working with diverse learners and the integration of technology into instruction.
I realized my passion for teaching at a young age when my friends and I would play "school" in my backyard...I always had to be the teacher! I was fortunate to have a plethora of passionate teachers throughout my schooling, and now I aspire to inspire my students just as they inspired me. I believe that all students can be successful, though it does not all happen in the same way or on the same day, which is why I seek to build a classroom community that allows for all learners to be appropriately challenged at all times and to work toward our learning objectives at their own pace. I love utilizing project-based learning initiatives with my students, as it helps me to teach what I have come to call "life through literature," that is, the practical application of our English content to college, careers, and wherever life takes students after high school. In our classroom, students are not just reading, speaking, and writing; but rather, they are becoming creators of content, agents of change, advocates for what they believe in, and human beings who know their value and worth.
Outside of school, I love to spend time with my husband, Andy, who is also a teacher, and our daughter, Adeline, who was born in April 2021. We also have a sweet doggy named Perry, who provides us with tons of entertainment and who ensures we get tons of exercise. I also enjoy reading (of course!), traveling, running (I ran cross country and track all the way through high school and college and am a former coach), and trying to replicate craft projects from my many Pinterest boards.
