Mrs. Jen Meikle, OTR/L
Hello! My name is Jen Meikle, and I work as an Occupational Therapist in the Hudson City School District. I look forward to working with you this year!
I have been an occupational therapist for 10 years, and this is my 7th year in the district. I grew up in Hudson where I met my husband, and we live here with our two sons and sweet dog.
I truly enjoy working with children in the school setting. I use a variety of learning approaches including Handwriting Without Tears and Zones of Regulation, and incorporate Social-Emotional Learning and tools for Sensory Processing.
If you ever have any questions, or are looking for materials to use to follow through in the home environment, please contact me at the email address and/or phone number listed on this page.
School-based occupational therapy practitioners are occupational therapists (OTs) who use meaningful activities (occupations) to help children and youth participate in what they need and/or want to do in order to promote physical and mental health and well-being. Occupational therapy addresses the physical, cognitive, psychosocial and sensory components of performance. In schools, occupational therapy practitioners focus on academics, play and leisure, social participation, self-care skills (ADLs or Activities of Daily Living), and transition/work skills. Occupational therapy’s expertise includes activity and environmental analysis and modification with a goal of reducing the barriers to participation. (AOTA, 2017)
