    PARENT MENTOR:
Having a child with a disability is an ongoing, challenging experience. Once a school has identified a child as having a disability and has started rendering educational services to address the disability that child now is receiving special education services.  Navigating the world of special education with its unfamiliar words and processes can sometimes be overwhelming.  Darlene LaFontaine is a parent of a child with a disability/special needs and serves as the Parent Mentor for the Hudson City School District.  She is available to help parents of children with disabilities/special needs by offering assistance with information and resources as well as providing parents with individual and/or community contacts. She can assist parents with the ETR/IEP process, address questions and concerns, or be someone who "gets it" and can provide resources, support, understanding.  For more information please visit the Parent Mentor webpage under the Parent tab on the district's website.  Darlene can be reached at LaFontaD@hudson.k12.oh.us or 330-653-1296.
