School Counselors & Mental Health

  • We recognize that mental health and social-emotional awareness are key security components in the school environment.

The Hudson City School District has 14 school counselors on staff.  We also have three clinical counselors contracted through Child Guidance & Family Solutions to serve the district.  At HCSD, we also have five school psychologists and a social worker on staff.

Our trained staff uses an approved Threat Assessment Framework to determine if a student is a potential threat to themselves or to others. There is also now a Crisis and Suicide hotline, 988.  Students can call or text the three-digit number to obtain a trained counselor who can offer help and support.

The district conducts an optional student survey, Panorama, twice each year to gauge where additional help may be needed.
