Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Sarah Thompson
Hi, I'm Sarah Thompson! I am beyond excited to have the privilege to be your child's kindergarten teacher! I absolutely love sharing my passion of learning with students and watching them explore, create, inquire, and reach for their goals! I love celebrating student growth every step of the way and watching them shine! I graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been teaching in Hudson City Schools since 2017, and this will be my third year teaching Kindergarten! I feel so incredibly grateful to be a part of the amazing McDowell and HCSD community! Kindergarten has completely captured my heart, and I am so excited for all of the fun and learning ahead! :)
It is my goal to provide each student with a positive, productive, and supportive learning environment, so that each individual feels comfortable and has the opportunity to learn and grow in all areas! I recognize that every individual is unique in his or her own ways and needs compassion, encouragement, feeling of belonging, and understanding. As a teacher, I want to be sure to create a positive learning environment that is comfortable and accepting for each type of learner, while forming real, meaningful relationships. I intend to teach children to reach for their goals, have a growth-mindset, and become life-long learners! Learning should be meaningful to each individual. Taking the time to listen to children's needs in order to understand how to meet those needs is extremely important. Children are so capable, and that should be recognized! They deserve to be given the opportunities to explore, create, inquire and communicate during these important early years of life!
I love spending time with my husband, Chad, and our sweet, energetic dog, Harper! Some of my hobbies include traveling and exploring new places, reading, and spending time with friends and family, including our 8 nieces and nephews!
I look forward to working with all of you, as well as getting to know your wonderful learners!! It is going to be a fantastic year together!
Mrs. Thompson :)
