Hello everyone! My name is Melissa Hengst, and I am your child's third and fourth-grade enrichment English Language Arts teacher. This is my second year teaching in Hudson City Schools, but my ninth year of teaching. Over the years I have taught in a few different gifted schools and programs, with the foundation of my educational and teaching background being working with gifted learners. I have taught gifted students for 7 years of my teaching career!

I was born and raised in Brunswick, just north of Hudson. I am a graduate of Baldwin Wallace, where I achieved a BA in Early Childhood, in addition to a Generalist (4th and 5th-grade certification) and K-12 Reading Endorsement. I completed my Gifted Endorsement through the University of Cincinnati in August of 2016. Lastly, I have just finished my MA E.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a Specialization in Gifted Education with Cleveland State University this past summer.  

In my free time, when I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling to new places, and checking out new restaurants in the area. I am looking forward to a great year collaborating with students and getting to know them!
