Mrs. Lindsey Mock
Welcome to First Grade!
My name is Lindsey Mock. I am beyond excited to be your first grade teacher this year. I graduated from John Carroll University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in May 2017. I am in my final semester working towards obtaining my Masters of Education in Reading and Literacy at Notre Dame College. This will be my 7th year teaching and it just keeps getting better and better! I spent my first two years teaching kindergarten in an International Baccalaureate School in Cleveland. Although I had a great first two years of teaching, I am thrilled to have found my HOME here in first grade at Ellsworth Hill! I feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by the best colleagues, mentors, families, and students each and every day in Hudson. I am looking forward to continuing to grow both personally and professionally as I spend my days in HCSD. Every day I feel beyond blessed to be a member of the Hudson City School District First Grade Team!
I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but have made Ohio my home ever since I came to JCU. My husband, Matt, and I live in Cuyahoga Falls with Luna, our 3 year old German Shepherd. She has brought us so much joy, so many laughs, and so much love. She is such a sweet girl and I can’t wait to share more of our adventures throughout the year. Some of our favorite things to do as a family are traveling, hiking through the national park, and enjoying food on the various patios in Cuyahoga Falls. I also love to read, run, and spend time with my parents, sister, and extended family in Pittsburgh. A fun fact about me is that I used to be a competitive Irish Dancer for 16 years. Be prepared for your child to show off some of their skills, especially around St. Patrick’s Day!
I am an enthusiastic, motivated, and caring individual who has always had a strong passion for teaching children. Our classroom will be a room full of movement, singing, hands-on experiences, technology-based activities, and enthusiasm for learning. I look forward to helping my students make significant academic gains as well as develop social, emotional, and self-management skills. Most importantly, I look forward to forming meaningful and lasting relationships with the students that I am lucky enough to spend the year with as well as their wonderful Hudson families.
As an early childhood educator, I will work diligently to create an environment in which my students feel valued, safe, and capable of reaching their full learning potential. I will create a classroom that celebrates individuality and diversity, as well as community. I will guide my students through the obstacles they encounter with patience and understanding. I hope to share my love for reading with my students and help them come to appreciate quality literature. I will let each of my students know that I will always have their best interests at heart and that I am truly invested in their futures. I hope to inspire each of my students to become lifelong learners inside and outside of the classroom.
I look forward to an amazing year together!
Love,
Mrs. Mock
