Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Mangus

Originally from Canton, Ohio, I developed a passion for teaching when I was just a middle school student myself. I knew from my own experience in school that teachers had the ability to impact students, not just as learners, but as people, and I deeply desired the opportunity to teach the whole student and positively impact others the way I was.

  • Undergrad (middle childhood education, grades 4-9 ELA and math) and graduate (educational administration) degrees from Baldwin Wallace University
  • Teaching experience as a Title I Reading Teacher (grades 6 and 7) in Riverside Local Schools and a middle school ELA teacher (grades 7 and 8) in Mentor Public Schools

Outside of Teaching:

Outside of the school day, I am a wife and mother -- both roles I value dearly. We enjoy traveling near (the playground next to our house) and far (California and other states to tour baseball stadiums!), and ultimately, spending time with one another. While I knew that I would love being a parent, I did not realize how much my role as a teacher would also benefit. Once I had our children, I gained the perspective of a parent and feel so much more connected to my students' parents and guardians.

My Favorite Things to Do:

  • read books and craft
  • take day trips to the zoo
  • find new local coffee shops
  • "dance party" around the house with my toddlers
  • go to baseball games
  • play with our goldendoodle pup Oliver!
