November 2023 Operating Levy

  • Issue 9

Hudson City Schools has a 5.5 mill operating levy on the ballot this November 7, 2023.

These funds would be used by Hudson City Schools to sustain operations.  It has been 12 years since the district has asked voters for new operating funds.  The last operating levy passed in 2011.  While most operating levy cycles are typically 3 to 5 years, Hudson City Schools was able to stretch its levy cycle far past the average timeframe.

What are operating funds used for in the HCSD?  Operating funds are used for expenses such as staff salaries, benefits, utilities, supplies and transportation, and are essential to maintain and continuously improve the Hudson City Schools’ high-quality academic programming, our extracurricular activities, student wellness and safety, and our athletics.

The levy would cost $16.04 per month per $100,000 of home value as determined by the county auditor.  The November 7, 2023 levy will be based on current 2022 property values- NOT the new 2023 values many residents recently received in the mail.
