• The Week in Review at HMS: Notes from Dr. Cockley

    Week of December 18, 2023

HMS wishes you a wonderful holiday season, from our family to yours!  We are so grateful for our students, staff, families, and community.

During this last week of school in 2023, we enjoyed a number of student-led festivities, including Holiday Spirit Wear; music assemblies showcasing our 8th grade Orchestra, our HMS Jazz Band, and our HMS Show Choir; and a Winter Pep Assembly led by HMS Student Council with many friendly and fun competitions.
What a wonderful week that celebrates what we are all about: relationships!
Our student musicians ROCKED today! WOW!!! Thank you to our 8th grade Orchestra, our HMS Show Choir, and our HMS Jazz Band for sharing your talents and hard work with all of us, in grade level assemblies! A highlight of our day today, and a beautiful tradition at HMS!
Ending the day with our student-led Pep Assembly! A TON OF ENERGY and a lot of fun! Thank you Student Council for your leadership and planning! We also celebrated an incredible 7900+ canned goods and $6850, donated by our students for our community Holiday Sharing!!! Our students made a true difference for others this holiday! THANK YOU!!
Operation Warm Feet in 6 Service. Donating 1210 pairs of warm socks to the Haven of Rest! Wow!!!

Thank you to HMS Student Council for creating gift baskets, as a continuation of Holiday Sharing, for Hudson senior citizens to help brighten their holidays!

In 8th grade Language Arts, students use text evidence from The Telltale Heart in a trial - this team of prosecuting attorneys presented winning arguments in the case!

For their weekly Kid Scientist Day, students in Mrs. Adams’ Science class welcomed her daughter who is a 3rd year vet student! Plus a Science Sleuth activity solving a medical mystery!

Designing houses in STEAM class during their Frank Lloyd Wright unit! Great collaboration and creativity!
In 6th grade Science class, students played Battleship with the elements on the periodic table. What a fun way to learn and reinforce the names of different elements so that students can learn how molecules and compounds are formed.
Absolutely beautiful performances by all of our middle school bands, orchestras, and choirs at their evening Holiday Concerts! Seeing our students' dedication, hard work, and musical collaboration is so inspiring!
