Mrs. Messenger

Hi my name is Nancy Messenger. This year we are going on a journey together through the Virtual Learning Option (VLO).  I am an Intervention Specialist, and this year I will be working  virtually with students from Evamere and Ellsworth (The Hill) in grades Kindergarten and First. We will be engaging, learning and growing together!! I am very excited to navigate this experience with you!

I have previously taught Preschool, Kindergarten, and Preschool Special Education. This will be my 20th year with the Hudson City Schools, and 30 "something" year of teaching. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (K-8) from The University of Akron. While attending graduate school in Special Education at The University of Akron I earned additional teacher validations and licensure in Pre-Kindergarten, Early Education of the Handicapped (EEH), and Intervention Specialist (K-3). I am a Special Education Content Facilitator for the HCSD and also a member of the Building Leadership Team.

I typically work with students within their general education classroom, as well as in small groups and individual instruction in my classroom G-10. A variety of educational groups and activities occur in G-10 including small group instruction in Reading, Written Expression, and Math; Fine Motor groups, Lunch Bunch, Social Thinking, and Zones of Regulation. This year we will work individually and in small groups, but we will do it virtually!

I will be working very hard to establish our time together as a fun, comfortable, challenging, and safe learning environment where we each do our personal best. My goal is to make this a successful and rewarding learning experience for your child. I believe each child brings their own unique talents, experiences, and personality to our group.

My parents moved to Hudson in 1966. I have three older brothers and one younger sister. I attended the Hudson City Schools from grades Pre-K thru 12. I will celebrate my 32nd wedding anniversary this year! My husband and I have five children and seven grandchildren. When I am not teaching you might find me watching my grandson's play sports, reading, or hiking. We love going on vacation to the beach. While this new time of COVID had many "no's",  I discovered two NEW hobbies I love: collection sea glass and painting old furniture "new again". My husband and I took many day trips up to Lake Erie, walking and finding tiny glass treasures. I also discoved podcasts and audio books!
