Greetings!  There is a quote in Stephen Covey’s book, The Leader in Me, which speaks volumes about the responsibility and importance of educating and positively impacting the lives of each student, every day. He writes, “We only get one chance to prepare our students for a future that none of us can possibly predict. What are we going to do with that chance?” In answer to that question, I believe it becomes more essential than ever that we continue to evolve in our instructional practices and methods while making all changes on the foundation of values that have made Hudson City Schools successful.

Instructionally, our teachers are continuing to learn and revise their plans and practices to empower our students to solve challenging problems. Our teachers and administrators are preparing our students for future success by aligning our curriculum to the Common Core, using internet accessible devices in exploration, and developing opportunities for our students to apply their learning in real-world situations.  However, as instructional practices evolve and curriculum changes over time, it is essential that our values remain constant. In this rapidly changing world with its enormous challenges, our students will need core values: integrity, honesty, work ethic, desire to learn, caring, perseverance, creativity and compassion. They will need us to model those values, and they will need us, as a school district and community, to help them develop those values in themselves.

Since 1886, the Hudson Schools have had a strong tradition of student achievement. I strongly believe that this level of achievement has been accomplished due to our involved parents, dedicated teachers and staff, and supportive community organizations that help prepare and teach young children to adapt to a changing world.

I look forward to working with you as we prepare the students of Hudson for their exciting futures!
