• Celebrating Birthdays

    Dear R-8 Parents/Guardians,

One of the annual milestones for a child is celebrating his/her birthday.  Due to the increasing number of students who experience food allergies and other concerns, I ask that no birthday treats/food be sent in from home.  Instead, in R-8 we celebrate by making cards, singing the birthday song, and taking home the “Happy Birthday to Me” book by Dr. Seuss to share with family for the night.

Along with that, here are a couple optional ideas you may also participate in to help celebrate your child’s birthday.

    • Donate a book to the school library or classroom in honor of your child’s birthday with his/her name inside.
    • Have your child bring their favorite book to share and ask the teacher if he/she or your child can read it to the class.
    • Donate a ball or jump rope (new or used) to the classroom for recess.
    • Provide each student in class with a colorful pencil, stickers or eraser.

If you wish to send in any of the above items, feel free to drop them off at the office or send them in with your child on the day they wish to celebrate. If your child has a summer birthday, you may calculate the date of his/her half birthday!

We also ask that the parents send birthday invitations through the mail, unless everyone in the classroom is invited.  Thank you!  Thank you for your time and support.  We look forward to celebrating your child’s special day!
