• In May of 1979, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Retail Management from the University of Wisconsin. My first job took me to Pittsburgh, where I met my husband and worked for five years before moving to Akron. After working for another four years in business, I decided to attend the University of Akron to pursue a career in education. This was the best career decision I've ever made.

Before coming to Hudson, I spent ten years teaching seventh and eighth grade Language Arts in a Catholic school in Akron. I worked as a Small Group Instructor my first semester in Hudson. At that time, I also began working on my Special Education License and Master of Education degree at Kent State University. During my second semester at HMS, I was given the opportunity to develop an alternative school program for seventh and eighth graders; it was quite a rewarding experience. For the next four years, I was an Inclusion Language Arts and Math Teacher. I was then given the opportunity to teach the new Integrated Literacy course. After teaching Integrated Literacy for four years, I taught eighth grade Language Arts for seven years. I am so excited about beginning my sixth year of working with sixth grade Respect students and Mrs. Sweitzer; a new school year is always a wonderful new adventure. The 2023-2024 school year will be my 34th year of teaching!

My husband and I live in Akron. When I'm not at school or doing school work, I enjoy being with family and friends, reading, traveling, playing golf, and watching various sporting events.
