Mrs. Clements

Welcome to C11! If you are in our class this year please make sure to complete this Family Information Form as soon as possible.

My name is Lauren Clements and I’m so grateful to be your child’s first grade teacher! We are going to have a year full of friendship, fun, and LOTS of adventures in learning :)

This will be my tenth year teaching 1st grade in Hudson. I have a masters degree in early childhood education and a bachelors degree in communication studies, both from Kent State University. I also hold a K-12 reading endorsement from Walsh University. I'm passionate about continuing my education and have most recently completed graduate courses on trauma-informed teaching and bringing mindfulness and social emotional learning opportunities into the classroom.

I am a firm believer in teaching the whole child. I know that the relationships I have with each of my students are paramount to their success in school. I pride myself on having a classroom that prioritizes community, empathy, inclusion, and mindfulness, and I encourage my students to carry these values with them into the world outside of our classroom. We strive to embrace a growth mindset in all aspects of our day; mistakes are proof that we are learning and we celebrate them as a necessary part of the process. I honor the fact that every child is a unique individual who develops at his or her own pace, and I am dedicated to being responsive to each of my students’ needs. It’s of the utmost importance to me that your child LOVES school, is excited to come each and every day, and that they come home with a smile on their face!

Outside of school, my husband and I are adoptive and foster parents. We currently have five children; four of whom we've been lucky enough to adopt. We have a 10 year old daughter, 8 year old son, a 6 year old son, 5 year old daughter, and a 2 year old foster son. We also have a dog named Jake and way too many houseplants! In my free time I enjoy doing home improvement projects, listening to podcasts, attending my kids' sporting events, hiking and biking in the CVNP, doing yoga, reading, playing board games, and of course, learning :)

I look forward to working with your family. If you need to get in touch with me, email is the best route. Thank you for the privilege of being your child's first grade teacher!
