• Parts of Speech 

    Noun: a person, place, or thing

    For example: boy, Charlie, city, happiness, air, sarcasm, education, Rome

    Pronoun: takes the place of a noun

    For example: I, me, you, they, she, us

    Verb: expresses an action or state of being

    For example: drop, write, feel, am, seem, was running, did, speak

    Adjective: describes a noun or a pronoun

    For example: red, delighted, hungry, fast

    Adverb: tells when, where, how, and to what degree (describe a verb, adjective, or another adverb)

    For example: quickly, happily, quite, well, eagerly, immediately, somewhat

    **Sometimes, a word can be more than one part of speech; you have to identify a word’s part of speech by figuring out what job the word is doing in a sentence. **
