• Hello 7 Adventurer Math Students!

    Hudson Logo

Welcome to 7th grade!  My name is Lauren Gutschmidt and I will be your math teacher this school year in the Adventurers’ community. I am so excited to meet all of you and get to know you this year.  I promise to do whatever it takes to help you have a successful year in math.  With a positive attitude and willingness to try new things and make mistakes, you will become a stronger mathematician!

This year, we will use the College Preparatory Mathematics’ curriculum aligned with the Ohio Learning Standards and eight Mathematical Practices. The research-based principles that guide this course are:

    1. Students should engage in problem-based lessons structured around a core idea.
    2. Guided by a knowledgeable teacher, students should interact in groups that foster mathematical discourse.
    3. Practice with concepts and procedures should be spaced over time; that is, mastery comes over time.

Students will be actively engaged and work cooperatively with their peers to deepen their problem solving and math skills, as well as make connections to real world experiences.  Students will have a variety of opportunities to demonstrate their understanding through the use of hands-on activities, projects and manipulatives.  Students will have multiple opportunities to demonstrate their learning, multiple times if needed in order to show mastery.  Technology will be integrated into the classroom to provide challenging and engaging learning experiences; thus, students will use their iPads on a daily basis.  We will utilize Google Classroom as well as my website, in which assignments will be posted using Google Calendar.  Students will be able to access the textbook and other resources online with a password.

Let's commit ourselves to Be ResponsibleBe Respectful, and Be Ready!
