Alcohol and Substance Abuse
Local Resources
The Six District Educational Compact Chemical Abuse Reduced by Education Program (C.A.R.E) was established in 1981 to provide early intervention and referral services for students experiencing problems with mood-altering chemicals, as well as prevention/education resources to Compact school districts. C.A.R.E. also provides support services not only for students recovering from chemical dependency, but also for teachers and staff who work with students dealing with these issues.

Hudson Community First: Hudson Community first is a local nonprofit organization that promotes positive youth development and seeks to unite individuals, organizations and our schools in an effort to nurture competent, caring and responsible children and adolescents.
Drug Free Clubs of America (DFCA): DFCA involves students participating in an initial volunteer drug test with parental consent. DFCA electronic ID cards are issued and students enjoy rewards both in school and from businesses in the community supporting the program and its initiatives. DFCA is a vehicle for parents to engage with children in an ongoing dialogue about drugs. It provides tangible rewards for good decision-making and making healthy decisions and provides a reasonable excuse to escape peer pressure related to drug and alcohol use.
