Chromebook Information
The Hudson City School District is very excited to provide Chromebooks to all students in grades K-8. In Grades 2-8, students take their Chromebooks to and from school. In grades K & 1, students use Chromebooks that remain at school in classroom carts. This learning opportunity provides each student with a Chromebook for their educational use. Teachers will continue to utilize Google Workspace as a learning management tool in the classroom. To learn more about Google in the classroom, please visit Google For Education 101.
Chromebooks are laptop-like devices designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet to utilize applications and documents “in the cloud." The integration of technology enhances opportunities for student research and project-based learning both in-class and at home.
The Hudson 1:1 Chromebook program is designed to:
- Expand and enhance educational opportunities for students
- Encourage integration of 21st-century technology skills throughout the learning process
- Use Google Classroom as the foundation for collaboration, transforming instruction and learning
- Provide students with access to any time, anywhere learning by harnessing cloud-based applications to extend learning time beyond the school day.
Students in Hudson have been using Google Workspace and Chromebooks for the past several years. Providing students with access to resources using their own devices allows them to have access to resources outside of the classroom walls during the traditional school day. Students will be able to collaborate with their peers through tools such as Google Docs, Classroom, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail. These tools will also enable students to create, access, manage, integrate, and evaluate information in all subject areas.
