Overview

Phillip D. Butto IV, CPA, serves as Treasurer/CFO for Hudson City Schools, where he is currently in his sixth year with the district. He brings more than 30 years of experience in public school finance, including 28 years as a Treasurer/CFO, having served in six Ohio school districts during his career.

Throughout his career, Mr. Butto has led complex financial operations, long-range forecasting, capital project financing, debt management, and levy strategy development, while consistently emphasizing transparency, strong internal controls, and collaboration with boards of education, superintendents, staff, and the community. His work has included securing cost savings through operational efficiencies, refinancing and restructuring debt, managing large-scale construction and permanent improvement projects, negotiating employee benefit strategies, and maintaining strong credit ratings through successful presentations to Moody’s Investors Service.

Mr. Butto is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Youngstown State University, where he graduated magna cum laude. He is an active member of professional organizations including the Ohio Association of School Business Officials, the Association of School Business Officials International, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and remains committed to fiscally responsible, student-centered stewardship of public resources.
