WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE!!!
 
My name is Julie Palmer and I am a first-grade teacher at Ellsworth Hill Elementary.  I am truly honored to be a part of the amazing first-grade staff. This is my fourth year teaching first grade at Ellsworth Hill. Prior to that, I was a kindergarten teacher at Evamere Elementary for 5 years. As always, my goal is to create a learning environment that is filled with kindness, love, support, acceptance, encouragement, friendship, and FUN! 
 
This is my 21st year teaching in an elementary classroom.  Previously, I was employed by Orange City Schools for 12 years as a kindergarten, first and second-grade teacher. I have a B.S.ED. in Elementary Education from Ohio University, an M.S.ED. in Elementary Administration from the University of Akron, and a Reading Endorsement License from Ohio Dominican University.
 
It is my hope that all children will view their classroom as their home away from home, where they feel accepted, loved, and empowered to become active participants in their own learning by developing a love of exploration, inquiry, and discovery. 
 
 
In first grade, children are encouraged to create positive peer relationships, model leadership behaviors, encourage and praise one another, and accept responsibility for their own actions.  Very simply put...BE responsible, BE respectful, and BE ready to learn each day! Children will learn to value and appreciate themselves as individuals as well as their classmates and their school community.
