Timothy James Sullivan, of Kent, formerly of Hudson, passed away suddenly Friday, January 26, 2018. He was the beloved son of the late James and Jacqueline Sullivan, loving father of Jack and Melanie Sullivan, dear brother of Thomas F. (Jennifer) Sullivan, Terrence P. (Nancy) Sullivan, Edward J. (Wendy) Sullivan and James J. (Heather) Sullivan, dear uncle to many nieces and nephews, dear nephew of Linda McMahon and Robert (MaryJo) McMahon, former husband of Karyn Sullivan, son-in-law of Dick and Donna Dibbs, and brother-in-law of Mark Dibbs, and loving companion of Susan Fenton.Class of 1977, Connie Rae (Cuthbertson) Genshock, Age 58Connie Rae Cuthbertson Genshock passed away December 10, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was the daughter of Mary and the late James Cuthbertson. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Anthony Genshock of Chagrin Falls; sons, Travis (Samantha) of Chagrin Falls and Eric (Amy) of Columbus, Ohio; mother, Mary Pitts of Ft. Myers, Florida; siblings, Vicki Cuthbertson MacIntyre (John) and William Cuthbertson (Kim) all of Ft. Myers, Florida. Connie was a cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, co-worker and friend to many. Connie received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1985 from Kent State University. She had a long and successful career in computer science in both technical and managerial roles including positions with Pioneer, Xerox, Bradley and most recently Black Knight Financial Services.Class of 1995, Derek Leigh Zahuranec, Age 40Derek Zahuranec passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018, after a long battle with complications from treatment for childhood leukemia. He was the son of Dana and Peggy Zahuranec, brother to Darin '92 (Carla) and Mark '99 (Sarah), and uncle to Noah, Brayden, Ella, Sawyer, Drew and Beckett. Derek was an artist who loved games, comic books, movies and laughter. He was a proud member of the Hudson "Swing Marching Band", and a graduate of Kent State University where he played trombone in several different bands. Derek was a life-long resident of Hudson and worked for Acme for a number of years.Class of 1941, Arlene Mae (Pontius) Neuman, Age 94
Arlene Mae Pontius Neuman passed away on December 22,2017. She grew up in Hudson, Ohio. She moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 1951 with her husband, Adam. They loved traveling to Adam's Navy reunions and made many friend across the country. She was involved in the Hudson Alumni Association and the Annevar Garden Club. She was an avid reader. Her love of gardening, sewing and crafting was evident in her well-kept home and yard. She loved Christmas and made it magical for her children and grandchildren. Her over-the-top decorating and Christmas cookies were legendary. She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years; daughters Diane (Ted) Jendrisak; and son James Neuman; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.Class of 1955, John F. "Bud" Morse lllBud Morse passed away on December 20, 2017. He served his country in the Army for four years, at one time being stationed in France. He was a proud, long-time member of the Hudson American Legion. He retired from Morse Controls in Hudson. His joy was spending time at his farm in Guernsey County, communing with nature, planting trees and visiting with his friends. Bud was preceded in death by his father, John F. Morse, Jr.; mother Alice Post Morse; step-mother, Helen Kirby Morse; his great niece, Lauren Detrio; and long-time best friend Joan Jerome. He is survived by his sisters, Gail (Dennis) Doty, Barbara (Bill) Mansfield, Janet (Bill Grimsley, Cynde (Allan Vargo) Morse, Connie (ed) McDonald, and their families.Class of 1965, Marjie Origlio (Grissom) 1947-2017Margie Origlio, nee Grissom, a long-time resident of Stow, Ohio passed away on September 13th, 2017. She was born in Akron, and was the 11th of 12 children. She grew up in Hudson, Ohio on her family's farm on Aurora Road. Hudson High School now stands on the property that was once Grissom Farm. Margie attended Hudson High School and Kent State University. After graduating, she worked at the Hudson Library and Historical Society for 32 years. Margie, known as Mrs. "O", served as the children's and young adult librarian. She was well know as a storyteller. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Ann Clewell, Norma Jean Richter, Sue Thomas, and Alice Particia McGrath. She is survived by her husband, John; brothers, John, James, Jack, Jerry; and sisters, Sandra and Deborah.Class of 1962, Marilyn J Webb (Peak) 1944-2017Marilyn graduated as valedictorian from Hudson High School in 1962 and Duke University in 1965. She was a retired CPA Tax Accountant for Wendy's International. Married to Terry Webb (1999), she is survived by children Tricia Dawson and Marc Dawson, and Terry's daughters Jeannine and Melanie.Class of 1980, Cynthia Marie Barnes (Agostinelli) 1962-2017Cynthia passed away February 4, 2017 of Cancer at the Cleveland Clinic Hospice in Fairlawn, Ohio. She was born in Akron and grew up in Hudson, graduating in 1980. She was a long-time member of Young Life. She is survived by her daughter Leigh Agostinelli, beloved partner Rusty McKeever, father Robert Barnes, sisters Katherine Barnes and Wendy Barnes-Carney, 2 brothers: Jonathan and Joe Tarney.
Class of 1947, Alfred G. Bowers 1928-2017
Alfred passed away in June, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara; son, Duane Bowers (Sterling Wilde), Reston, Va.; daughter, Janet Bowers, East Fallowfield, Pa.; and sister, Frances Sessions, Mentor, Ohio. Alfred was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger Bowers (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) and Nelson Bowers (Sebring, Fla.).
Alfred graduated from Hudson High School, received his Bachelor's Degree from Ohio Christian University and Master's Degree from Univ. of S. California. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan and in the Korean War. He worked for Ford Motor Co. and the U.S. Department of Transportation. After retiring with his wife to Albuquerque, NM, he volunteered for the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. He was a 50 year member of the Grand Lodge of Masons of Ohio.Class of 1981, Rosemary Helen Choudry (Langenfeld)Rosemary passed away of cancer on May 21, 2017. She was born in Akron, a Hudson High School graduate, a member of IHM and the German Family Society. She was a nursing assistant by trade. She resided in Cuyahoga Falls and Stow, until moving to Mechanicsburg, PA in 1999. She is survived by daughters, Magdelena Choufry-White (Tim), and Suryia Choudry; her children's father, Jamal, all of Mechanicburg, PA; brothers Chuck (Karen) of Stow, Awald (Carolyn) of Akron.
