    The Hudson City School District is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience regardless of technology or ability.

    It is our goal to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 AA. These guidelines explain how to make website content more accessible for individuals with visual, hearing or cognitive disabilities.

    We believe that conforming to these guidelines helps make our website more user-friendly for everyone. For more information about the federal standards, visit the Section 508 website.


    Technical information about our site


    Our Blackboard/Schoolwires website approaches accessibility in these and other ways:

    •        Template-based pages and apps provide consistent interaction and user experience across pages
    •        Allows clients to configure their templates while still remaining within the color contract ratio
    •        Provides full support for keyboard navigation

    •        Text can be resized 200 percent without loss of content or functionality

    •        Is responsive to use on other devices


    Most of the documents posted or linked on our website are in Adobe PDF format, which requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. If you don’t already have Adobe Acrobat Reader, it can be downloaded for free from Adobe’s website.


    Reporting an inaccessible page or external link

    The district’s website team reviews the main pages of our website for accessibility through the use of a third-party service and we strive to correct accessibility issues as they are identified. However, our website has multiple editors posting to the site including but not limited to administrators, department heads, building secretaries and teachers. It is important to us that you let us know if any pages or links need to be modified because of accessibility issues.


    If you are unable to access or decipher any pages(s) on our website, please contact us at sheatzls@hudson.edu with information on the location of the page or document you were attempting to access and the problem you experienced. Be sure to include your name, email address, and phone number so that we may contact you to provide the information in another format. You may use this form to let us know about any accessibility issues.


    These guidelines apply to all web content produced or updated by the Hudson City School District. In addition the district will ensure that third-party content providers, who are linked to our website, are aware of our website accessibility guidelines. We will also encourage organizations to use the district’s e-flyer, third-party web-compliant service for documents and flyers in lieu of requesting that links be included in announcements posted on the district’s website.
