    Cold weather is here!  As a reminder, students need to have appropriate clothes for outdoor recess on a daily basis (we do monitor weather and wind chill temperature and move recess indoors if the weather is inclement.) Five important items to have are: hats, gloves, coat, snowpants, and boots.  If they want to play in the snow, they will need to bring snow pants and boots.  Please help your child learn to dress themselves so that they can maximize their recess time!  It takes a great amount of time to zip coats, put on gloves, tie boots, etc.   Students may leave snowpants at the school but please communicate with your child and their teacher which items should remain at school vs. brought home.

    • April 15 - NO SCHOOL - School Holiday
    • May 30 - NO SCHOOL - Memorial Day
    • June 8 - Last Day of School for Students

    Yearbook Orders: There's still time to order the McDowell 2021-22 Yearbook if you haven't already done so.  The deadline is February 14, 2022.  If you are interested in purchasing a yearbook, please click on the Jostens Yearbook link.

    ACME Community Cash Back Receipts are Due: The Community Cash Back program has ended for 2021.  Thank you to all who have been collecting ACME receipts from August-December 2021.  PTO can get up to 5% cash back on eligible purchases.  Please turn in your ACME receipts to the front office by the end of January 2022 so PTO can get credit for them!  We appreciate your support!

    Kindergarten 2022-2023 Online Registration: Online registration for Kindergarten 2022-2023 will be February 11 - March 11, 2022. 

    How do I register for kindergarten?  It’s as easy as 1-2-3!

    Step 1:  Online Registration for Kindergarten opens on February 11, 2022. You may access and complete registration forms on the District and McDowell Early Learning School websites at www.hudson.k12.oh.us/kindergartenreg.  Note: A child must be 5 years old by September 30, 2022 to qualify for Kindergarten. 

    Step 2: Documents for Registration: All registration documents need to be uploaded and online registration completed by March 11.  There are multiple documents required for registration.  Please be prepared to have the following documents ready to upload to complete online registration: 

    • Your child’s original birth certificate
    • Proof of residency (i.e. lease/rental agreement, purchase agreement, deed or title).  We do not accept a driver’s license, utility bills, or other personal identifiers.
    • Applicable custody documents/shared parenting agreement

    By law, a copy of your child’s current immunization record and original state certified Birth Certificate are required.  A copy of a Custody Statement is required if a child does not reside with both natural parents.  An up-to-date Immunization Record is required on the first day of school.  It is optional to provide a dentist’s report.

    Step 3:  Kindergarten Screenings will take place on May 3, 4, or 5, 2022.  You will receive an email after March 11th with more information about Kindergarten Orientation and Kindergarten Screenings.  Our hope is to have in person screenings; however, if this is not possible we will communicate a virtual option. The email will be coming from an @hudson.k12.oh.us address. 

    Hudson PTO Rewards Programs: A GREAT way to support Hudson PTO with purchases you are already making! 
    BOX TOPS: Help PTO get credit for the new scan-only Box Tops you see on packages by downloading the BTFE app at https://www.boxtops4education.com.  Look for Bonus Box Tops Offers in the app; they really add up!  
    AMAZON:  Amazon.com has made it easier to support Hudson PTO through the AmazonSmile Program.  Once you register an AmazonSmile account on the Amazon.com browser, you can easily activate it in your Amazon mobile app through the main menu (full instructions here: https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/community/how-to-sign-up-for-amazonsmile).  Make sure to choose Hudson PTO!  Now you can get credit for purchases made in the Amazon app without having to go to a separate AmazonSmile website!  Amazon donates .5% of your annual purchases to the Hudson PTO through no additional cost to you.

    Parking Reminder: If you are visiting McDowell or East Woods and parking in the Bus Lot, please be sure to park only in the spaces adjacent to the grass.  The other spaces need to be free for the buses to be able to pick up and drop off students.  Thank you!

    COVID-19 Dashboard: Just a reminder that an email will be sent to all parents or guardians if there is a positive COVID case in your child’s class or school sponsored extracurricular activity.  Parents can visit the COVID-19 Dashboard on the district website at https://www.hudson.k12.oh.us/domain/2062 or you can go to www.hudson.k12.oh.us>COVID-19 reporting to see the total number of cases at any building.
