Ms. Emily Barger
I spent the first 11 years of my career in the banking industry, holding positions in retail sales, corporate training, management, and financial planning for clients of high net worth. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my career in banking, in the fall of 2016 I resigned and began working as an accounting, finance, and marketing teacher in the public education setting in order to give back to the industry that helped shape who I am. The career transition from banking to education was inspired by my own experience as a member of the Business/Banking Career Technical Program at Cuyahoga Falls High School. I credit the program for helping me get my future on the right track and inspiring me to believe in myself during a challenging season of life. As a high school business teacher, I strive to help students recognize their potential, identify future career goals, provide connections to professional opportunities, and ultimately be the adult to them that I needed as an adolescent. I am a member of the board of directors for The Love Akron Network and enjoy bettering the community by volunteering for several non-profits, supporting the homeless, and helping victims of human trafficking. In the summer, I enjoy traveling and have taught English in Poland and served in the mission field in Jamaica and South Africa. I consider it a great honor to be working for Hudson City Schools, and look forward to forging meaningful and inspiring relationships with my colleagues and students.
