COVID-19 Travel Advisory

  • 11/19/20

On July 22, 2020, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine issued a travel advisory recommending that domestic travelers who have been in states with a positive testing rate of 15% or higher for COVID-19 quarantine for 14 days upon entering Ohio.

The list of such states meeting the high testing rate for which quarantine is recommended is updated each week.  As of the date of this notice, several states, including South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Montana, Utah, Mississippi, Missouri, Wisconsin, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Minnesota are on the list.

Travel to another state occurs any time an individual crosses into a state via air travel, public transit, personal vehicle, or rideshares/taxis and interacts with individuals in that state.

Per the guidance, when determining whether you should quarantine, consider the activities engaged in while you were traveling to or through listed states.

    • Did you social distance, wear a mask, and wash or sanitize your hands often?
    • Did you have prolonged, sustained contact with others?  For example, stopping for fuel or traveling to an office where social distancing, mask wearing, and hand hygiene are practiced regularly are less risky than going to a restaurant or gathering that does not enforce mask wearing or social distancing.

In line with this guidance, the District requires you to examine the nature of the time you spent in a state on Ohio’s travel advisory list and the interactions you may have had with others in that state. If, after traveling to one of the states on Ohio’s travel advisory list, you believe that you engaged in some activities that would put one at increased risk of contracting COVID-19, the District asks you to abide by the fourteen-day quarantine period and not report to any District property during the quarantine period.

If you need to make arrangements to abide by this quarantine, please contact your student's building principal or health clinic. The District appreciates your consideration and adherence to the above requirements as we try to keep students and staff safe and healthy.
