Degrees and Certifications:
Teaching is most rewarding when a child who has been struggling with a concept or process looks up and says, “Now I get it!” Seeing my students succeed, in whatever way, is everything.
After deciding on a career change, I attended Cleveland State University beginning my teaching career in 1999. Certificated in elementary 1-8, I first taught inner-city children. My most memorable moments from that period were during a four year span when I worked at an alternative school hosting challenged children from all over Cleveland.
That experience led me to understand that these students had a variety of educational needs that needed to be better addressed. This brought me back to Cleveland State where I obtained a masters degree in special education. Shortly thereafter, I joined the Hudson High School special education team, where I’ll be entering my eleventh year as a small group instructor.
On a more personal side, I have always been an outdoor enthusiast. Starting the HHS ski club in 2014, I’m happy to be entering my 5th year as their advisor. My husband of 35 years and I literally met on a ski lift. As active adults, we’ve enjoyed backpacking, road biking, hiking, and alpine skiing. We also enjoy live music of many genres including but not limited to classical, folk, and blues.
