***NEW: Hudson School Buses are now equipped with new Stop Arm Cameras

Hudson school buses are now equipped to capture any driver that violates Ohio’s Red Flashing light laws. To further protect our students when entering and exiting a school bus, the Hudson City School District and Petermann, Ltd., have equipped our fleet of 53 buses with cameras that will capture video of any driver violating Ohio’s school bus laws governing Red Flashing Lights and Stop Arms. The new cameras capture the vehicle’s license plate, which is then reported to Hudson Police. Under new Ohio laws, confirmed violations can result in a citation and fine. All cameras are operational beginning April 21, 2021.

While there are additional laws that impact four or more lanes, these situations result in some of the most frequent violations of the law.

    •       On a road with fewer than four lanes, all traffic approaching a stopped school bus from either direction must stop at least 10 feet from the front or rear of the bus and remain stopped until the bus the lights are off, the stop arm is retracted, the road is cleared of students, and the bus begins to move.

Drivers should never pass a school bus stopped on a two or three lane road even if the lights are NOT flashing unless the driver signals that it is ok to pass.

***: ATTENTION PARENTS OF SENIORS!The AfterProm Committee has been hard at work planning a spectacular party for our Class of ‘21, but we’re a long way from where we need to be, as far as fundraising.  After missing out on all the fun stuff of Senior Year, we really want this to be special for the kids.  AfterProm has traditionally been funded by the parents and community.  We know this has been a difficult year, financially, for many people. However, for those who ARE able to, we ask that you donate whatever is comfortable for your family. And grandparents and aunts and uncles are welcome to donate, also!  But, please, send your donations as soon as possible, so we can continue to put down deposits on things like tents and inflatables and other activities. You can either Venmo your donation to @HudsonHigh-AfterProm-1  OR mail a check payable to HHS AfterProm Class of 2021 to 6143 Paderborne Dr. Hudson, OH 44236. Thank you so much!!

There are a lot of variables present when students are learning from home. It is best for the student to report any issues to his or her teacher and work with the teacher first to rule out an issue with the link, password, etc.
From there, we have links posted on the COVID-19 remote learning website under Need Help? to receive further support. In grades 6-12, we request students/parents fill out the form for iPads so we can properly diagnose the issue with needed information and work on a solution.
