Dawn Redwoods at McDowell/East Woods Bus Lot
In November 2024, ReGreen planted twelve Dawn Redwood trees along the east side of the bus parking lot. The primary goal of this project is to further buffer the view of the parking lot for the neighbors along North Hayden. This line of trees also provides a beautiful natural connection between East Woods and McDowell.

Although once common in North America, Dawn Redwoods were thought to have gone extinct millions of years ago. In the 1940s, a forester discovered a grove in a remote area of China.
Dawn Redwood was chosen because of its:
- Height (at 85-100 feet, it is among the tallest tree that will grow in this region)
- Suitability for this site and soil quality, and it is hydrophytic (loves stormwater)
- Fast growing nature; structurally sound and durable
- Beautiful deciduous fall foliage and architectural compliment form to the existing River Birch and White Pines
This project is 100% funded by ReGreen for Hudson Schools.
