School Counselors & Mental Health
We recognize that mental health and social-emotional awareness are key security components in the school environment.
The Hudson City School District has 14 school counselors on staff. We also have three clinical counselors contracted through MBR & Associates to serve the district. At HCSD, we also have five school psychologists and a social worker on staff.
Our trained staff uses an approved Threat Assessment Framework to determine if a student is a potential threat to themselves or to others. There is also now a Crisis and Suicide hotline, 988. Students can call or text the three-digit number to obtain a trained counselor who can offer help and support.
The district conducts an optional student survey, Panorama, twice each year to gauge where additional help may be needed.
