The Hudson City School District's textbook adoption procedure includes community input. The textbooks under consideration for adoption will be available for preview Monday, February 25 through Thursday, February 28, 2019, at the Hudson Public Library and Historical Society during their normal business hours of 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Doreen Osmun, Assistant Superintendent, Christina Wooley, Curriculum Coordinator, and Rebecca Rice, Literacy Coordinator will be available to answer any questions about the books at the Library as follows: Monday, Feb. 25th, 10 a.m - 12N; Tuesday, Feb. 26th, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.; Wednesday, Feb. 27th, 4 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.; and Thursday, Feb. 28th, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
The textbooks under review for the High School are Data Analysis & Statistics, Contemporary Mathematics, College Algebra, Honors Biology, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics 1, Honors World History, AP Computer Science A, and AP Computer Science Principals. Kindergarten through 3rd grade Reading textbooks are also being reviewed.
The Hudson City Schools encourages community members to participate in the preview process. Comment forms will also be available at the Library and can be left in the drop box, or emailed to Doreen Osmun at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The teacher textbook review committee will include community input in their decision making process. All textbooks recommended for adoption will be brought to the Board of Education at the first May board meeting, with board action taking place at the board meeting in June.
