BOE Meeting to take place Saturday, January 16, 2021, 9 a.m., in the High School Media Center.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On Thursday, January 7, 2021, the Board of Education opened discussion about the return of Grade 6-12 students to the Option 1, All-In Learning Model. The meeting can be viewed at Watch Board Meetings. (The discussion begins approximately 49 minutes into the video.) In his report, Superintendent Phil Herman presented information relevant to current local COVID-19 data as well as our school district COVID-19 student and staff data.

The Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at 9 a.m., in the High School Media Center, for the purpose of hearing a presentation and considering a resolution from Superintendent Phil Herman to transition Grade 6-12 students to the Option 1, All-In Learning Model beginning Monday, January 25, 2021. In addition, should the transition to All-In be approved, Superintendent Herman will recommend to the Board that the Virtual Learning (VLO) Option 2 be offered for Grade 6-12 students who were not enrolled in VLO prior to the deadline for the second semester. There will be no recommended change for students who are currently registered in the VLO Option 2 for the second semester.

The Board of Education meeting is being held on Saturday to accommodate the schedules of all Board of Education members. HCTV will be live streaming and recording the meeting for viewers. In addition, those who wish to attend the meeting in person are required to appropriately wear masks and to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Students in Grades PreK-5 returned to school on Monday, January 11, All-In, while Grades 6-12 began in Hybrid and will remain in that model until further notice.

Following the Board of Education meeting on Saturday, January 16, the District will notify parents about the outcome and/or decision of the Board, and will include any other information concerning future learning model transitions.
