Friday, March 5, 2021, will be an at home learning day for all students!

Dear Parents,

Hudson City School District has received a confirmed date from Discount Drug Mart of Friday, March 5, 2021, for our staff members to receive their second COVID-19 vaccinations. First doses were administered on Friday, February 12th, which was a scheduled professional development day for staff.

In order to vaccinate our entire staff on a Friday, students will not be in-person for in-school instruction on March 5th. All  K-12 students, regardless of participation in Option 1 or VLO, will have an asynchronous learning day AT HOME.

This means that students will log in to their Google Classrooms to receive their instructions from their teachers about lessons and assignments to be completed online. Any additional instructions for classroom learning will be given to students and families by teachers prior to March 5th.

All after school activities or events will take place as scheduled; however, there will be no Explorer Zone on March 5th.

In order to stay within the guidelines for the Pfizer vaccine, the second dose is administered as close to three weeks after the first vaccination as possible. In addition, should there be reactions to the second dose of the vaccine, which according to medical professionals tends to be more common, employees will have weekend recovery time before school resumes on Monday, March 8, 2021.

We do understand that vaccinations on a Friday are not ideal, but we are grateful to receive the vaccine as yet another layer of protection for our staff, students, and families.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s building administrator or the Curriculum Office at 330-653-1217.
