HHS Message to Seniors (& their Parents/Guardians), 3/19/2020

Finally in the good news category . . . Hudson High School has secured alternate dates for its 2020 Commencement Ceremony at EJ Thomas Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Akron. Our planned graduation date is Wednesday, May 20th beginning at 7:30pm.

Should the restrictions on mass gatherings continue to a point in time when the May 20th date is unworkable, we will postpone our Commencement date to Wednesday, June 24th, same time and location. "IF" we're still not back to some semblance of normalcy in June, we have yet another "rain-date" of Wednesday, July 15th.

Our seniors, especially, will be missing out on so much of their high school experience should the current restrictions/guidelines remain in place--we owe it to them to have a graduation ceremony. Of course, their current academic school year will come to a close as scheduled, Friday, May 15th. We'll have to wait and see regarding a graduation practice if the original May 20th Commencement date won't work out.

We wish we had a more definitive answer for the Senior Prom. With such a large school, choices in venues are limited. We're currently working with the Marriott on possibilities for a Prom later in May or perhaps early June. Stay tuned for more information sometime after Spring Break.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to teachers, counselors or administrators if there are specific questions, comments or concerns. Stay healthy and follow the social-distancing guidelines.
