Phillip Butto Hired as the next Hudson City School District Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer

 

Hudson City Schools – The Board of Education has approved the hiring of the next Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Hudson City School District. Phillip Butto will replace Kathryn Sines, who is retiring as of July 31, 2019 after an outstanding 26-year career as a school financial officer.

 

In Phil’s position as the Treasurer/CFO of the Hudson City School District, his salary will be $117,900. In addition to district duties, Hudson’s treasurer also serves as the treasurer of the Sixth District Compact. Compensation for these duties are shared equally among the six participating school districts for a total salary of $6,304.

I love what I do and I am passionate about education.  I can think of no better way to give back to my community than serving them as the Treasurer/CFO of Hudson City Schools.”

Phil began his career as a school Treasurer/CFO in 2000. Since that time, he has served in several local area school districts including, Keystone Local, Ravenna City, and is currently completing his third year as Treasurer/CFO of the Kenston Local School District. He brings a total of 21 years of CFO experience to the position, as well as serving two years as a state auditor. Over the course of his career, he has also actively managed several construction projects and bond levy funds.

 

Butto holds both a Treasurer’s License and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certificate. Other awards and professional contributions include receiving the 2015 Northeast Ohio Distinguished Service Award for his four-year term as an officer of the Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO) Five-County Chapter. He currently represents the OASBO Five-County Chapter as its legislative liaison.

Phil is a 1996 graduate of Youngstown State University. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting and a minor in Economics.

 

Butto, his wife and children, are residents of Hudson. His children attend Hudson Schools. In addition, he has served on the Hudson Tree Commission, and is a member of the Friends of the Hudson Parks.
